Leona Swart
Leona, age 2 was born with an Anorectal Malformation aka Ectopic Anus- an abnormally positioned anus repaired surgically.
Barb McMullen and I met with Leona, her mom (Ann Ingleston) and some of their family on 08-28-08 at their home on the mountain in Berne. Mom informed us that she was unable to travel with Leona to Boston due to her financial difficulties of trying to raise 9 children as a single mother.
We realized that there was a definite need to help Leona and her mom travel to Boston Children's Hospital (BCH).
Surgeons assessed Leona's medical situation @ BCH the week of October 6 through the 9th, 2008. Leona's surgeon was kind enough to send ACCFCB an update letter which we share with you. ACCFCB will absolutely cover all expenses for Leona's return trip to BCH in 2009 for her corrective surgery.

Leona Update:
Leona is scheduled to return to Boston Children's Hospital for her corrective surgery on April 27th for 3 days without complications.
