Hello Everyone,
This year's event was quite special in many ways.
- $12,000 was raised this year!
- The 1st Place golf event team Winners were: Bill LeBeau (who happily gave his trophy to Jeffrey Driscoll); Brian Murley; Jeff Huneau & Randy Powell. Congratulations!
- 50/50 prize of $1400 was donated back by ACCF Sgt. Nancy LaFontaine. Nancy was the 2nd largest donor to this years event, second only to our Correction Officer & Identification Officer's Union- Local 775! We support Nancy's nephew "Buddy" (Triple transplant recipient) and as fate would have it, she wanted us to have her share of the winning raffle prize as a thank you to us for what we did and continue to do. Thank you Nancy for your extreme generosity!
- We honored Correction Officer Jeff Dinuzzo for his extraordinary effort of asking Albany County employees to pledge nearly $10,000 for the Albany County Employee Payroll Donation campaign out of the $13,300 total pledges for 2009. Jeff has agreed to spearhead this campaign again for 2010. Well deserved award Jeff, Congratulations!
Jeff was also instrumental in presale of the Southwest Airline raffle ticket sales @ ACCF that Suzanne had gotten donated to ACCFCB (nice job Suzanne & Bob Cazasta- Colonie PD too!). Jeff won the pair of roundtrip tickets too, great day for him and certainly well deserved from ACCFCB's perspective! Thank You also to Southwest Airlines for donating the tickets! - Steve Van Zandt and Jackie Donovan from News Talk 590 WROW "Daybreak with Steve & Jackie" were a big part of our event this year. Besides their playing in our tournament, they invited me onto their show last Monday morning to talk about our foundation's mission and our 5th annual event. THANK YOU Steve & Jackie!
- Steve Van Zandt did an amazingly funny live comedy show with many impersonations of famous people at the bar during our hour long rain delay. This couldn't have worked out any better under the circumstances if we tried, A very big THANK YOU to Steve for sharing his talents with us!!
- We honored Jeffrey Driscoll (bone cancer) age 13 with ACCFCB's annual Courage Award. We also gave Jeffrey 4 tickets to the Boston Red Sox baseball game on July 28, a Red Sox Jersey, a tour of the ballpark and he will be on the field during the players batting practice- WOW! Jeffrey and his guests will stay in Boston over night after the game. (We thank Tammy Criscone, our Secretary for her persistence with the Red Sox and for making this special surprise a reality)!
- Al Roland, our foundation's photographer is in Maine on a much needed vacation. Upon his return we will put a link to the event photos on this home page.
- Our change in handling prizes was a big time saver & a hit with our participants this year. We closed down sales early and picked the winners before the golfers arrived into the banquet hall after golf. Golfer's picked up their prizes after checking the prize winners bulletin board. Nice job Suzanne!
- Tommy Tunes (Tom Martin ACCF Maintenance Dep't) was a fantastic addition to this years event with his music and sound system and as co-MC. He definitely solved our issue of the not so great sound system that the Fairways has in their beautiful banquet room- their podium. We say a big THANK YOU to Tom, he did a great job and he has agreed to do it again next year)!
- Chris Daus, our Masters Of Ceremony did an exceptionally wonderful job this year (as he always does). The script, not that he uses one- had to be thrown out the window and he did a lot of adlibbing to make the banquet a success. He is the master and he has the MC job for as long as he wants it. Thank You very much Chris!
- 6 year old Olivia hit it out of the PARK with her singing "I'm Proud to be an American". She was dressed in red, white and blue and had practiced for 6 month's- she was a real crown pleaser. THANK YOU OLIVIA! Olivia is the little sister of Alexandrea Howlan, who was our 3rd annual Courage Award recipient.
- Thank you to all of our volunteers this year!
- Thank you Board of Director's for everything that you've done to make this year's event a success. It is a team effort and everyone has a part to play in this large annual production.
- A very special Thank you with our admiration and sincere appreciation must go to our Golf Chairman, John Wojcik (1st Trustee) and our Donation chairwoman, Suzanne MacDaniel (1st Vice President). Our annual tournament would not be nearly the success without these two leaders excelling with their special talents! You are both dynamic and an irreplaceable team to this foundation!
- THANK YOU to ALL of our supporters, Without your generosity we could not continue our voluntary effort to support our seriously ill children!
- Please view and support our sponsors, just click "Teed Off For Tot's" go to bottom of that page.
We now continue our foundation's mission, leading off with taking care of our newest seriously ill child Connor Menneto age 17 from Delmar, NY! Please join us next year on June 25, 2010 for our 6th annual "Teed Off For Tot's" golf classic event.
Sincerely,
John R Smith, President
