The Albany County Correctional Facility for Children's Benefit Announces it's annual "COURAGE AWARD" recipient for 2010, to be presented at our "Teed Off For Tot's" banquet following golf on June 25, 2010 @ Fairways Of Halfmoon:

Matthew "Buddy" LaFontaine

Matthew "Buddy" LaFontaine age 14, was diagnosed in April 2002 with Primary Hyperoxaluria Type I. This is a rare genetic condition of too much oxalate (salt form of acid) present in the urine causing kidney stones/ kidney failure which eventually required a transplant operation.
 
On January 22, 2009, Buddy courageously underwent a triple transplant surgery replacing his Liver and both Kidneys @ Boston Children's Hospital which would not have been possibly without the generosity of an unknown organ donor. We are pleased to report that Buddy is doing very well since his transplant surgery and recently celebrated his new "birthday"- January 22nd.

Video Presentation in support of Evan Kimmerer Age 12 fighting Brain Cancer

This video was taken via cell phone during presentations On October 9, 2009 after the Albany County Correctional Facility staff beat the Albany County Sheriff's Road Patrol in a benefit softball game in Evan's honor. There were no real losers on this day- $6,000 was donated by the Albany County Sheriff's Department staff to support Evan in his struggle.

Evan was diagnosed on Sept 20, 2009 with brain cancer (Medullo Blastoma). The tumor was removed at Albany Medical Center Hospital in Albany, New York the following day. Evan underwent 7 weeks of radiation and is now receiving 1 year of chemotherapy treatments which started in October 2009.
