Rebecca Phelps, age 16 born with special needs was diagnosed in 2003 with Mitochondrial Complex 2 Deficiency, a life threatening condition causing her body to not properly turn food into energy. It becomes harder to sustain energy levels and it compromises the digestive & immune system. She receives IV's 3x's/ week of Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) to pump up her energy, which could have adverse affects to other organs in her body.
Rebecca's mom, Eileen describes her as "such a sweet soul even with all she's been through. When she's 'herself', she is happy and loves to sing and dance...Becca loves music from Big Band to Patsy Cline, current pop & good old rock & roll." Mom said that "most days if you ask her what she'd like to do for the day, she says in her tiny little sweet voice- 'we go to airport?' She loves to people watch and attend outings w/ other families. She has a great time at a live hockey game."
