Daniel Dingley, age 7 to receive ACCF for Children's Benefit 2011 "Courage Award"

 

Daniel Dingley, age 7 of Green Island, NY was trapped in his home during a house fire on April 2nd, 2010 (Good Friday). He was thankfully rescued by the Green Island Fire Department and immediately turned over to Empire Ambulance Service Crew who resuscitated him and administered life saving medical treatment.

Daniel continues on his long road to recovery and travels back and forth to Boston Shriners Hospital for Children with the help of ACCF for Children's Benefit. He continues to undergo several corrective surgeries while coping with extensive Physical Therapy.

Daniel and his family look forward to expressing their gratitude to everyone for saving their sons life and for supporting them along their difficult journey. The brave firefighters and ambulance crew will also be honored at our annual 'Teed off for Tots' Golf Classic banquet t/b held Friday, June 24, 2011 at 2:30 pm- Tickets are $20 & reservation requested by calling John @ 588-5055. Daniel will recieve the ACCF for Children's Benefit 'Courage Award' for coping so bravely with this life altering tragedy. Daniel's wish is to go for a ride on a fire truck someday and who better to make this wish a reality than the Green Island Fire Department. They plan to have their firetruck at the event to surprise Daniel with just such a ride.

Horrific Tale Of 3 year old James Deere & How We Can Help...

Imagine for a moment- Your healthy active 3 year old is playing without a care in the world. One day they're not feeling well so you take them to the doctor. Soon after you rush your child to the ER because their health continues declining and is admitted barely clinging to life. You're told that your child's right leg and left arm must be amputated and the 2nd leg may have to be removed too in an attempt to save their life. Welcome to just a glimpse into the Deere families nightmare.....

How To Help-ACCFCB met with this very battered yet tight knit family in their home on 3-23-11 to discuss with them how we may be of assistance. We determined that a van to transport James is their necessity. If you can help, please contact Suzanne @ 518-813-1493 or  [email protected]  

Diagnosis- James Deere, age 3 entered AMCH emergency room on 4/12/10 with what was believed to be a "stomach virus" when in fact tests proved it was a very rare strep type A blood infection. James decompensated very quickly and was in kidney failure, septic (Lack of blood and oxygen to tissue), and suffering from toxic shock (Bacterial Infection) due to the strep group A entering his blood stream. 

Normally this bug would only result in a typical "sore" strep throat; however, if it finds its way into the bloodstream it will wreak havoc. Unfortunately, James left arm and right leg were amputated due to the damage done by the disease. After spending several month's at AMCH, James was transferred to Boston Children's Hospital. He was finally able to come home on 2/23/2011 to continue medical treatment, rehabilitation and Physical Therapy.

Mom's update March 2011-

Hi Everyone

I wanted to drop a line to let you know all the good news.  Connor made the varsity baseball team here. He has gotten a chance to pitch and the fields here are amazing. He is having a great time. I can't help but sit in a amazement when I see him in uniform. You all made it possible and I hope seeing a picture of the amazing progress makes you all smile.  He has been accepted to a few schools and we are in the process of choosing.

 

His is an amazing story that you all had a part of creating. He continues to lead a life with pain but pain is part not his whole life.  The life is much bigger then the pain.
