17 year old Triple Transplant Recipient Battling Organ Rejection

Buddy LaFontaine, age 17 battling organ rejection

Our thoughts, prayers and resources continue with Buddy and his family during this critical period.

Matthew "Buddy" LaFontaine age 17, was diagnosed in April 2002 with Primary Hyperoxaluria Type I, a rare genetic condition of too much oxalate (salt form of acid) present in the urine causing kidney stones/ kidney failure which eventually required a transplant operation.

On January 22, 2009, (his new birthday), Buddy underwent a triple transplant surgery replacing his Liver and both Kidneys @ Boston Children's Hospital. 

Buddy received ACCFCB's 2010 "COURAGE AWARD" at our 6th annual "Teed Off For Tot's" awards banquet held on June 25, 2010 @ Fairways Of Halfmoon.

Update: 'AJ' Ballard, age 2 Using His Ventilator Less But Received Epilepsy Diagnosis

AJ, age 2 resides in Waterford, NY

In July of 2012, AJ was further diagnosed with epilepsy and is currently working on getting the seizures under control. He will require braces for his spastisity on his arms and legs, tests will determine this cause. He is still fed via g-tube, but is working more with speech in order to get him to accept new tastes and textures. For up to 4 hours/ day he is off of his portable ventilator, a huge improvement from 24/7 for which mom and dad are very happy about!

AJ was previously diagnosed with Chiari Malformation, Type 1- a condition where the lower back of the skull is too small or misshaped causing crowding of the brain and pressing it down against the spinal cord. He underwent surgery to make room in his skull and spent the last 2 months of 2011 in the hospital recovering. Doctors have not determined whether there is permanent nerve damage nor the extent.

9 Year Old House Fire Victim Doing Well After Latest Surgery

Daniel Dingley, age 9 pictured at Boston Shriner's Hospital is home recovering and doing well after his recent corrective surgeries to his chest, right hand, right wrist and between his Right thumb and index finger.

Daniel, of Green Island, NY was trapped in his burning home on April 2, 2010. He was found unconscious and was rescued by the Green Island Fire Department. Daniel was resuscitated and given life saving medical treatments by Empire Ambulance Service. Daniel has undergone several surgeries since the accident.

Daniel was honored with the ACCF for Children's Benefit 'Courage Award' at the 7th annual 'Teed off for Tots' golf event held on Friday, June 24, 2011. Daniel' s award was well deserved considering all he has been through in his young life!
