Press Advisory- Cameron Receiving Child Courage Award @ Teed off for Tots
Who: Cameron Stackman of Colonie, NY
Illness: Born November 1, 2001 with Gastroschesis; Intestines outside of his body losing all but 2cm of his small intestine due to the intestines being kinked cutting off blood flow. From day one it was own he'd need an intestinal transplant, his nutrition feeds compromised his liver.
Transplant: Cameron received his transplanted liver and small intestine on February 6, 2003 at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan. The transplant was a complete success.
Courage Award: We are reuniting with Cameron and his family after assisting them through Cameron's transplant. Cameron will receive a “Courage Award” at our 9th annual 'Teed off for Tots' Golf Event for the Outstanding Courage he consistently displays while coping with a lifelong serious illness.
Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator: Joyce Kelly of Guilderland, NY agreed to bring a Hawk and an Owl to this awards presentation to surprise Cameron, a bird lover with an up close and personal look at her beautiful birds.
