Captain John Wojcik Becomes President of Albany County Correctional Facility for Children's Benefit, Inc.

John Wojcik, an original member of Albany County Correctional Facility for Children's Benefit, Inc. (ACCFCB), takes over the leadership role as President on February 1, 2016.

John Wojcik is a 25 year member of the Albany County Sheriff's Office, assigned to the Albany County Correctional Facility at the current rank of Captain. "I do not plan to re-invent our children's foundation, I just want us to continue to do what we've always done- support seriously ill kids in need going forward"- John Wojcik.

John Smith, ACCFCB's Founder/ President is stepping down due to his impending retirement from ACCF after a 30 year career as a Correction Officer and planned relocation to SC with his wife Donna- "I am beyond proud of the extraordinary effort and generosity extended to ACCFCB over 15+ years from our Board of Director's, our many volunteers, ACCF staff and our community which continues! I proudly pass the baton and the day to day operations to our 1st Vice President and my dear friend, John Wojcik, who remains a key part of ACCFCB!"

Stewart's Holiday Match generously donated $1,750 in 2015 for an 11 year total of $19,155 to support ACCFCB's seriously ill children!! We take this opportunity to once again say a very sincere THANK YOU to Susan Law Dake, President Stewart's Foundation and Stewart's customers! $1,655 was donated in 2014.

Funds will support Sa'fyre Terry, age 6 facing foot amputation.

 

Shocking Second Cancer Diagnosis For Teenage Girl

ACCFCB's Reese Johnson, age 14 from Ballston Spa recently received a Leukemia diagnosis while battling Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer. Leukemia is the uncontrolled growth of blood cells, usually white blood cells (leukocytes), in the bone marrow crowding out and replacing normal blood and marrow cells. Doctors are currently formulating a plan to battle this second stunning blow.

Reese had previously undergone surgery to have a growth removed from her Jawbone while receiving Chemotherapy treatments. Reese is an upbeat and positive girl who has the love and support of her family, friends and our children's foundation. Our thoughts and prayers continue with Reese and her family.

Barb McMullen's 2 Year Cancer Battle Brings Physical, Emotional & Financial Toll

Donate To Support Barbara McMullen- 'No One Fights Alone' (Barb currently travels to Boston 2x's/ month incurring over $1000 monthly in out of pocket expenses while being unable to work).

 

Albany County Sheriff's Deputy & ACCFCB's 2nd VP, Barbara McMullen has endured a brave 2 year battle against Peripheral T Cell Lymphoma (PTCL), a malignant cancer of the white blood T cells that can grow in any part of the body. T-cell Lymphoma is a rare disease in which T Lymphocyte cells become cancerous. Her cancer, considered in remission has suffered a debilitating setback-

 

Barb has contracted graft vs host disease (GVHD)- a complication that can occur after a stem cell transplant where the newly transplanted donor cells attack the transplant recipient's body. Anti rejection meds are being administered. GVHD is attacking her: Eyes (can't make tears so plugs were put in to keep the moisture in); lungs (causing respiratory issues and requiring inhalers); Mouth and throat (causing blisters); Face (forming permanent bruises under the skin).

 

Barb has spent the better part of her adult life helping others and now needs our help. Her expenses involved in traveling extensively to Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for ongoing treatment are becoming overwhelming.

 

Tina Marie's dance academy Raised $1,270 To Support ACCFCB's Sick Children

 

Tina Marie's dance academy has donated a grand total of $5,920 over the last 3 years to support our sick children and we are so very grateful to them- Thank You!!

 

Announced that they will be holding their 2^nd Annual Dance-a-thon on July 21^st from 9:00am until 8:00pm. The Dance-a-thon will once again be a charity event to support Albany County Correctional Facilities Children’s Benefit. ACCFCB helps local families who's children are going through a medical crisis or long term illness.
